Mission Victory India (MVI) is an autonomous defence think tank established to foster progressive military leadership reforms and to identify and introduce tangible changes in military selection procedures, training, and recruitment policy. MVI is a one-of-a-kind non-partisan defence think tank founded in the year 2020 by Colonel Vinay B Dalvi (Retd.) and defence journalist Aritra Banerjee.
Our Mission
Mission Victory India's mission is to spread awareness of the lesser-known and - discussed subjects pertaining to
Professional Military Education (PME), especially, the processes of nurturing, selecting, training, and grooming military leadership at all levels. MVI aims to provide extensive knowledge via an array of exhaustive research papers, journals, articles, and debates, to serving and retired defence personnel, academicians, journalists, and defence enthusiasts. And to promote critical and strategic thinking among the serving fraternity for the Indian military’s emergence as a modern warfighting force, competent to lead in 21st-century warfare.
Founder & Editor
Col Vinay Baliram Dalvi was commissioned in 4 Maratha LI in Jun 1971 and served with the unit for 8 years which included 3 years in Rajasthan sector during 1971 war ,3 years in J&K and a staff tenure of 2 years at HQ SC Pune. He excelled in sports especially hockey in which he played in the Northern Command twice ,74/75 & 75/ 76 and Central Command 1976/ 77 championships and represented Central Command in the Inter Services championship 1976/ 77. He transferred into APTC in Jun 79 and served for 29 years . During his service with APTC he served as instructor at AIPT Pune , was PTO of ASC Centre Bangalore, Artillery Centre Nasik and Raj Rif Centre Delhi . He was Joint Secy ASCB, Dy Comdt AFSC, Pune ,SOP & RT HQ EC & SC .He had rare distinction of being PTO of NDA, IMA & OTA for 9 years collectively . He excelled in sports for Army / Services at national level and was Manager of Services teams for several years in Hockey ,Athletics, Gymnastics, Wrestling . He had the honour of being the Manager and Coach of Services hockey team that was Runners up in 1984 and Winners in 1985 National championship for Rangaswamy Cup. He was Manager of Army hockey team for Malaysia tour in 2008 and was also the Manager of this team that won coveted Bombay Gold Cup in Apr 2008 . During his service the officer was awarded COAS Commendation Card twice . He retired from HQ SC in Jun 2008 after 37 years in the Army. The officer is settled in Pune.
Post retirement ,for past 17 years the officer has been deeply involved in writing articles and compiling debates on various subjects of military importance especially selection ,training and grooming of military officers which have been published by numerous leading newspapers and defence magazines. The officer is the author and editor of seven books published by Pentagon Press, New Delhi titled : Role Model - A key to character development ( 2010) ,Sun Tzu's Art of War ( 2012) and 5 volumes of Victory India Campaign books ( 2012- 2019) . The officer has been Associate Editor of a defence magazine Fauji India for past 9 years since 2016 . He is the brainchild and founder editor of Mission Victory India ( MVI) founded in May 2020 .MVI is a defence news portal ,think tank and website that has published over 2000 articles and debates basically on military subjects , defence strategy, geopolitics, military history, PME ,etc .MVI has a readership of over 2 lakh worldwide and connected with large number of the serving defence officers , veterans, Press , readers in India and around the world. The Mission Victory India Website enjoys the patronage of several renowned senior veterans of the three services including few Chiefs of the three services. Late Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar was a supporter of the Victory India Campaign . Vol 3 of the book titled ' A campaign called Victory India ' has his message . MVI also published 12 monthly issues of Victory India Magazine from July 2020 to Jun 2021 that was highly appreciated . Mission Victory India started with a single aim & objective - quality military leadership at all levels through enhanced military knowledge !Overtime ,especially after 2020 when the MVI website was launched the aim and purpose became broader to meet the environmental needs for quality coverage of wider range of military subjects concerning matters of national defence ,strategy ,geopolitics, etc .,that concerned
Indian Armed Forces and nation ,directly or indirectly.
Preamble
The MVI platform emerged through the decade old (2010 - 20) Victory India Campaign books comprising seven volumes titled ' Role Model ‘(2010) ‘Sun Tzu's Art of War' (2012) and 5 volumes of 'Victory India Campaign books (2012 - 20). It is linked to Fauji India Magazine which published numerous articles from the Victory India Campaign books during the period 2015- 21. The aim, objective, and purpose of MVI are as follows:
1. It is a virtual platform created in May 2020 for military veterans and the serving fraternity to share their views and perceptions on various subjects of interest from the military angle and their national security imperatives through their MVI-published individual articles and responses in debates.
2. Through Mission Victory India (MVI) platform - connect with a maximum number of military authors, writers, and respondents both serving and veterans, and link to our national media, other military think tanks, and the rest of the interested readers in India and around the world.
3. Strive to improve the quality of our military leadership at all levels by identifying flaws, shortcomings, and weaknesses in our age-old and outdated selection, training, grooming, and promotion systems and suggest corrective measures or actions through well-meaning recommendations from the military authors, writers, and respondents.
4. Spread the right and true awareness and picture about various subjects and linked issues of interest amongst all serving military personnel, veterans, and Indians.
5. Encourage veterans and serving personnel to write, air, and share their views or perceptions on various subjects and linked issues (that earlier concerned them and /or now concern them) to spread their knowledge and also gain the same through the writings and responses of others.
6. Mould views, opinions, and perceptions of readers on various topics and linked issues based on our published articles and debates that concern or are of interest to Faujis and Indians.
7. Familiarize, Sensitise, and Appraise the national and defence policy and decision-makers and the executive or implementation agencies at all levels, especially in the military world and its hierarchy about the true facts and positions of various military issues through MVI articles and debates.
8. Circulate and Debate other educative and interesting articles and videos shared by veterans and think tanks to further enhance the awareness and knowledge of the subjects and issues covered.
9. MVI is a website, think tank, news portal, and also a magazine which is over 2 years old which has published over 2000 articles, and has a readership of over 2 lakh readers around the world. 90% of MVI readers are from India.
